Rail and metro maintenance equipment

R.P.M. Tech manufactures a line of track units and utility vehicles for rail, light rail and metro. These specialized vehicles are used for snow clearing, cleaning, rail repairs and general maintenance.

AF1 rail or airportAF1 Cold Air Blower

This unique vehicle is offered in two versions: one on rails for railways and one on wheels for airports runways. The AF1 blast away the toughest snow and ice with its 700 km/h (435 mph) air nozzle. For the wheel version, the carrier is powered by a 187 kW (250 hp) engine and can reach speeds of 0-80 km/h (0-50 mph). The blower is powered by a 373 kW (500 hp) turbocharged Diesel engine and the air flow is created by a two stage centrifugal fan. The air nozzle is hydraulically controlled.

AF1 Boom truckAF1 Boom Truck

Mounted on High-Rail, this versatile multifunction vehicle works year round for both rail maintenance and snow and ice removal. In its winter version, this vehicle is composed of a commercial carrier vehicle chassis, with an auxiliary AF1 engine driven air blower assembly. This assembly is mounted at the back of the vehicle's cab onto a removable skid installed on a platform.  An air nozzle assembly is mounted at the front of the carrier. The high cold air velocity can be use for rail or road maintenance to clear snow and debris around switches, rails and third rails, sweep off freshly fallen snow, dry paved surfaces and many other cleaning tasks. In the summer, the air blower assembly can be removed and replace with a maintenance platform equipped with a crane to facilitate the handling of material such as 12 m (40 ft) long rail sections. The carrier is powered by a turbo Diesel engine ranging from 150 to 224 kW (200 to 300 hp), has a 5 speed automatic transmission, comes with a fully equipped cabin and can seat up to three (3) passengers.

Thermite railAF1 Thermite

To complete our line of multifunction vehicles for rail maintenance, the Thermite is a complete self-contained unit to perform Thermit welding tasks. It comes fully equipped with a crane, power lift platform, hydraulic system and a 5 to 10 GPM pump complete with PTO to power tools making this AF1 a complete year round unit. The AF1 air blower assembly is used for winter work, for removing snow and ice from switches, third rails and other maintenance work.

RSRSRSRS

This powerful rapid snow removal vehicle consists of a fan type blower, hydrostatically operated front mounted broom, and side brooms for rail and third rail clean up.  Powered by a 280 kW (375 hp) Diesel engine, the blower has a snow clearing capacity of up to 3,000 tons per hour and can cast snow left or right to a distance of up to 38 m (125 ft). The maximum discharge angle through the drum is 30° to the left and a flat discharge to the right.  The self‑contained unit can be operated from inside the cab carrier vehicle via a plug-in remote controlled panel.  The snow sweeper is hydrostatically driven by a heavy‑duty hydraulic motor with cab mounted rotary speed control.  Its lifting height is fully adjustable for maximum utilization and versatility. A self-propelled unit is also available.

RSRS-SPRSRS Self-Propelled

The self-propelled version of the RSRS comes with a hydrostatic drive and is also equipped with a powerful 280 kW (375 hp) fan type snow blower and hydrostatically operated broom with a width of 221 cm (87 in) and forward as well as reverse variable speeds. This version can clear up to 3,000 tons of snow per hour, cast snow up to 38 m (125 ft) and offers a flat discharge to the right.

MSV metroMSV - Metro and light rail maintenance vehicle

The MSV is a powerful 4 wheel-drive service vehicle designed for maintenance work in metro and light rail systems. While power is transmitted to the pneumatic tires, rail wheels automatically adjust to guide the vehicle on track. This self-propelled vehicle can transport up to four seated persons and can be operated in two different modes: hydrostatic drive ramp speed of 0-1 km/h (0,6 mph) and mechanical drive high speed of 0-40 km/h (25 mph) in both directions. The slow speed mode is primarily used for tunnel cleaning operation, while high speed mode permits rapid transportation to job site for maintenance crew. The exhaust system is equipped with a catalytic gas purifier that reduces emissions. Above all, the MSV has a remarkable hauling capacity of up to 91,000 kg (200,600 lb) and can be used to haul lorries with equipment and supplies or to tow metro vehicles.

MPM metroMPM - Metro and light rail maintenance vehicle

The MPM is another service vehicle for subways used primarily to move personnel. It runs on a hydrostatic transmission giving it a smoother ride and increased maneuverability. It can travel up to 40 km/h (25 mph) and offers more PTO for tools. Equipped with the same catalytic gas purifier to reduce emissions, it can also be used to haul lorries with equipment and supplies. The MPM has room for four (4) seated passengers.

MVVMVV - Metro and light rail maintenance vehicle

This high performance vehicle is a rail mounted industrial type self-propelled multi-functional vacuum system. It can operate at working speed of 8 km/h (5 mph) and can travel up to 40 km/h (25 mph). The rail wheels of 405 mm (16 in) are mounted on conical bearing and operate pneumatically for constant force. The MVV comes equipped with a vacuum, a dust suppression system and a highly efficient suction nozzle controlled by a joystick. Options include other nozzles and a video camera vision system.
